Rules state that when you fly IFR you must speak english. When flying IFR, you don't look outside, so you can't spot other planes. Therefore it is vital for safety that everybody can understand what the other planes in the vicinity are ordered to do.
Sometimes IFR training is performed as a VFR flight, only the student wears foggles and the instructor looks outside as during a normal VFR flight. Yesterday we decided to file it as an IFR flightplan, but I wasn't aware of the english requirement

I got to do an ILS approach though, which was really cool
