China's aviation industry is seeing quite a growth spurt (which is true really for its other industries as well).

China has been known to make inferior quality goods. Wonder if that is the same with their aircraft. Mind you, their drone maker, Dji, is quite good.

The ARJ-21 has been accused of using the same tools as the licence produced MD-90s made in china - therefore the resemblance. I would imagine the quality of aircraft would be tightly monitored and regulated today, to ensure the attractiveness of their aircraft. Not like the Shanghai Y-10.....

I don't think the Chinese will produce anything of much quality... :/

Bad quality aircraft will really land China in some trouble.

Bad quality aircraft will just be failures

Is the Chinese government sponsoring the company?

I'm 99% sure of it. The question is if it's official sponsoring or not

Most such companies I can imagine being subsidised as it's in the host country's best interest to have such a big company there

I quite agree with you there. Being a Communist country, China has quite some control over businesses and the economy, and right now it seems set to become the world's greatest economic power. If China is determined to set up a giant in aviation, the progress may be very quick.

I do hope that China's aviation industry will not overtake Europe and America's.

It can be done by them, but I don't think Airbus or Boeing will ever fall - unless they make a big mistake, bigger than the 747-8

Compared to what they expected, I think yes. It is selling well with the freight market, but probably because Boeing wants to keep the production rolling, thus offering discounts on the aircraft

I feel really sorry for the 747
