Another thought: newer planes should attract more passengers, or allow better prices.

Thanks Matias.

What do you do when you replace aircraft? Do you sell the older plane that you have taken out of service, or do you scrap it?

4
Last point, and then I will stop talking to myself: when replacing aircraft by another, it would be nice to be able to swap the aircraft on all its routes in one click (with a confirmation, so 2 clicks). Especially if one selects the same aircraft type, this would save a lot of time.

5
With regards to maintenance costs, I think these needs to be overhauled and be calculated on a per aircraft basis. Users should be able to see the maintenance costs as they chose the aircraft they want to buy.

Also, it would be nice that the older the technology, the higher the maintenance costs, thus making it logical that users stop buying old design aircraft.

Aircraft revenue vs costs
I think this is what is the priority for a fix. As it is, high capacity aircraft are a no go in this game, which make it frustrating when you see a nice A380-800.

I understand the developpers do not want to kill smaller aircraft by making bigger aircraft too profitable, but here are some ideas, taking into account this target.

1. As long as the capacity offered on a route hasn't reached the demand, prices should remain high, and should be the same for any type of aircraft.

2. When offer is higher than demand, there should be a slight bonus for the aircraft offering the fastest service (this would be reflected in passengers accepting to pay just a little bit more for the same flight), such bonus to increase based on the length of the route.

3. When offer is higher than demand (taking into account prices modifiers as per above), planes should be filled up according to the price. First the cheapest tickets price, then second etc... If two airlines have the same pricing, they share the passengers.

4. Fuel: I would add one hour of fuel costs on each flight to simulate take off/climbing and approach/landing fuel burn. This will also make big heavy jets less attractive on short routes.

5. Costs per seat: the costs per seats (fuel/maintenance) should be somehow calculated to ensure that bigger aircraft can offer lower seat costs. This might be managed to ensure that there are no dramatic drops (as not to kill smaller aircraft) but it needs to be better balanced than today, where costs are prohibitive on bigger jets.

6. Passengers should be willing to pay more for longer routes. Everybody understands that the longer the route, the higher the costs. As it is today, long range is not a very good option. This needs to be offset by higher fees on long range routes.

Last question. In my world (506), when I go on the aircraft market page, I can see the "deals" with aircraft on sale or available for lease. There are 2 DC8 showing, and I'd love to lease them, but when I click on the "buy" hyperlink, I get to a totally different page. I guess it is a bug?

I've spotted deals like that from time to time too, and it may be a case of private deals. I'll rectify that if it is the case.

This bug has now been fixed for leases. If they occur for sales, give me the aircraft ID and World ID. (and make sure they are still on the market)

It seems to have been fixed, the aircraft are not showing any longer.

Actually, it wasn't my last question for tonight.  :-[

Is it possible to fly a route that is 15nm short, or the game prevents it?

(like from the international airport to the domestic airport in a city).

Thanks to all again.

Why aren't there any big aircraft on lease? Is lease exclusively based on players who lease aircraft, or does the game catter for computer managed leasing companies?

Another daft question: I am thinking to buy my first aircraft. When I look on the used market, there is a table that gives a value for the aircraft and a sale price. Then, when I click on the aircraft I am interested in purchasing, there is a more detailed page about the aircraft, including a table showing a value for that aircraft. But that value is different from the value shown in the first table. What are both values supposed to mean? Is one the value for a new aircraft, and the other an estimated market value for the given aircraft?

Can someone help me on that question?

Also, I couldn't find anywhere in the game manual how you can offer one of your aircraft for lease. Could you please give me a hint?

Thanks Cheung Airlines!

Thanks a lot for your answers.

If I read correctly your answer to my question 1, there is no market research tool like there is for the routes to predict revenue from lunch/dinner/breakfast? It is all guess, and check in misc to see what improves?

Finally, if you decide to retire an aircraft, rather than selling it (because you think you won't be able to sell it anyway), how do you do?

There could be some sense in the $1 route, if it feeds your longhaul operation.

Today, when you buy a ticket from a big international airline for a long-haul flight, with a domestic connection, they don't charge you the domestic flight.

A few more daft questions:

1. How do I monitor whether my price policy for food and beverages is succeful or not (is there somewhere a stat showing how much were sold or is it just about me fiddling blindly with the numbers?)?

2. Does the fleet mix impact maintenance costs. In real life, it is cheaper to operate a big fleet of one particular aircraft than operating 10 different types of airplanes for the same fleet size. Is this reflected in the game? Does the same apply to operational crew costs (due to training issues, lack of flexibility)?

3. Does the fact that I bring in passengers to my main base increase the number of passengers likely to connect with one of my other flights? And therefore, will international flights feed my domestic network, and will my domestic network feed my international one?

Thanks a lot!
