You just don't realize how bad the US health system is when compared to HK. They could close down an ER just because they are "too busy" in US. :roll:

My brother sat in A&E with a broken leg for 6 hours before a doctor even looked at him...

My brother waited twelve hours for someone to look at a half an inch deep, five inch long cut that needed stitches. He was bleeding like mad. The nice nurse told us: "Here are some sanitizing wipes and a towel for the cut, the next ER doctor will be available between the next 10 and 14 hours. The US health sucks. s-u-c-k-s.

Patient: I had a deep cut in my leg and it really hurts!!!
Nurse: Sorry, but please wait over on the chair. We will treat you as soon as possible
*Patient goes sit on chair*
2 hours later....
Patient: Nurse when is it my turn?
Nurse: Sorry, but this clinic needs to close as it is already 4 o'clock

That really happened to me  :(

Natin, Im from HK and basically, if your sickness / patient has no immediate need to be treated, he'she has to wait for at least 3 hours. Those who are able to walk to the hospital. 1 hour at least......... :cry:

Anyways, I'm not going to argue with you about Hong Kong.
I've never lived there, and thus I feel that it would be dumb to say anything I find off google with no experience  :wink:

So, all of you think our "Glorious American Capitalist Hospitals" are great here in the US as well, as in you'll get in and out within 2 hours? A few months ago, I had ended up getting a very bad bug where I had to go to the bathroom every 5 mins with me having stuff coming out of both ends (I'm trying to be as little specific about it as I can). While there, you couldn't even drink water, since you would not know when you would get called up to see a specialist (they had a placecard by the vending machines saying so). I came into there at around 7/8 PM, by 3AM, we got so sick and tired of waiting, and not even getting any help, my mom grew fed up and we had to go home! This is really bad, as I possibly could've dehydrated to death in that emergency room with how things were run.  

From what I read though, this seems to be a problem with not only the US, but countries who claim to have some kind of "socialist" health care system too, though oddly enough. I think this has more to do with how hospitals are run or how many of them have too much demand to deal with the supply they can give out.

I personally don't support paying teachers minimum wage.
It would be fine with me if we were paying them more if they had performance pay.
(Boost the average pay some amount, but we could deviate from that based on how well they taught)

...on the basis of how well their kids do.  And motivation doesn't really matter a whole lot.  Because some people are as motivated as they can be yet don't have the capacity or background to do what they want.
