In recent news, Trans-World Airways' New York-area subsidiary, jetBlue International Airways, commences daily service from New York-JFK, Washington-Dulles, and Newark to Tokyo Narita, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Osaka, Guangzhou and Seoul-Incheon, having received 50 A340-500 aircraft. This is a strategic move as it will strengthen the area's economic and political partnership with the WAMNNY Alliance. Some A340-500 aircraft will also be used to commence daily service between JFK and Cape Town and Johannesburg, a first step in a move to take over the area.
