Boeing and Airbus are losing out on a big opportunity.

Well, Airbus is closer than Boeing with their A321neo, Boeing has nothing to offer, really

I would have thought that Airbus had retired the A321, and I am glad that they had not done so. Boeing seems to have no plans for another 757.
Any guesses what Airbus and Boeing are going to come up with next?

Probably another 787 sized jet.

What about the 797? Something was hinted at the Paris airshow, no?

Jane's
All the World's Aircraft
seems to have mentioned that at the Paris Airshow Boeing has announced plans for the 797 that will be a 737 replacement.

Hmm, what will Boeing offer then? Maybe the 797 baseline will be bigger than the 737 baseline, allowing for even more stretching?

I don't think we'll see a new model from Airbus in some ten years - they just re-engined the A320 family, they have a new widebody just launched and the A380 size aircraft are doing badly

I have found some strange stuff on the Internet about Airbus planning to replace its A380 with a model that has similarities to the Antonov Mriya. However, I do agree that Airbus may not be designing new aircraft in the next few years. They need to settle down with their current situation.

I still don't know why Airbus doesn't want to re-engine the A380. The first aircraft are ready to be sold on from their first airlines, and there is no viable replacement ready yet!

I think they
have
re-engined the A380, as well as gaving it some aerodynamics upgrades. The A380plus is already out, and it has a totaly new winglet design, too. It is claimed that this new version is even more fuel efficient.

The A380plus has the exact same engines as the normal model, as Airbus doesn't think there are enough possible customers for the re-engined version

With all this criticism of superjumbos, will aircraft companies ever design and manufacture one again in the future?
