Airline Mogul Celebrates 15 Years

Today, December 23rd marks the 15th year of Airline Mogul! Thanks to everyone who has supported the game over the years and helped get us this far.

2020 has been quite a year, and thankfully at AM we found some time to deliver long awaited enhancements and features. With people having more free time, many old players came back and new players found us.

We look forward to continuing to develop the game further in the coming year, building on the order of what we released this year. So whether you relaxing this holiday season with good books or some Airline Mogul time, we hope you can enjoy some of the new features like maintenance overhaul, flight time improvements, staffing improvements and some new to leasing options.

P.S. AM has been a good kid this year, watch out for a festive Easter Egg on the site.

All set with the latest 707-320s.

For the Boeing 720s, looks like the normal 720 has turbojet engines while the 720B has turbofans. I can swap those around as needed as well. I think due to the time period of this world we notice the turbojet/turbofan issue more than other worlds.

All set, the 707-320s have been switched over to the 707-420, I put the letter A on the end of the name so you can see which ones we modified.

Go ahead and edit each route to get the block time to be re-calculated. No need to cancel and re-create or swap aircraft, just updating the fares is enough to fix the blocks. N112ZR (ID 3536) is the example I used to get the blocks back to normal.

The block time issue occurs in newer worlds due to changes in how we handle supersonic aircraft. I put a fix around turbojets so that slower aircraft (like the 707) are handled like a turbofan but faster aircraft (Like the Concorde or TU-144) are handled correctly. The fix will be in-game when we do our new big feature release which is order books.

We can swap out your 707-320's for another 707 variant if you like, that should allow you to create routes as you wanted to despite the issue with block times. The 707-320B has turbofan engines and will produce normal block times.

Looking at the 707-420 stats on the back end, it should probably be a 96 day construction length rather than a 72 day one. As Matias said it is an automated calculation and sometimes older data remains in the database where we changed the construction length formula but didn't update all the aircraft at once.

Glad you found it, it is a little hidden in there but each engine potentially has a different block time due to the speeds and engine technology.

Hi there!

Welcome to the forum. Looks like we need to update the Wiki. On newer worlds where "Progressive flight paths and block times" are enabled the calculation has gotten a little more realistic.


The old method was a straight calculation of speed over distance, however in reality planes will travel at different speeds through flight. The calculation now reflects that as well as some additional milage flown through the air during departure and arrival sequences. The different stages of flight are loosely based on the following from Eurocontrol.

To find the time needed to fly a route before you buy gates or aircraft, check using the Research Route feature which should be able to calculate it for you.

Game Updates / Airline Mogul Resumes

After the scheduled four hour downtime earlier today, April 19th the game is back online and running as expected.

The downtime helped with updates to the servers as well as software upgrades and some game enhancements. Further details on the new features will be detailed in due course.

Game Updates / Airline Mogul Downtime Sunday April 19th

All,

The game is going to be down for a period of 4 hours, this Sunday April 19th between 14:00 and 18:00 game server time (Central European time).

This downtime is to facilitate server upgrades and the deployment of code enhancements. The hope is to have everything wrapped up as soon as we can but 4 hours should be a conservative timeline.

We will close login when we start the upgrades and any player logged in will automatically be taken to the homepage.
