Game Data / [Fixed]:washington DC
« on: October 15, 2007, 07:49:34 pm »
ok since no one responded on the other thread and it's been about 12 hours or more, i will post it here in a new topic, and after it's answered it can be deleted.

i wasnt sure where to post this. i didnt want to make a new topic for it, but now i have to. but right now when you research a route, there is no separation between the two washington DC's in the US. There's Washington DC ad Washington DC. if the code could be put after the DC such as Washington DC - ABC (can't think of the codes right now), it'd be very helpful.

General Chat / Another kind of 0.5 frequency abuse?

It's not against the rules, however, do consider that it's actually very easy if you want to compete on those routes, because 0.5 frequency routes tend to be a walkover.

Yes, but if it's one vs. one at that airport then the legit airline will only be able to compete on half the routes of the cheater airline.  The 0.5 routes effectively doubles your airplane's hours by violating the laws of physics.

That's why I want the game to have a limit of one 0.5 frequency route per plane.

well really i think you should only be able to fly half routes to your own bases. like 1 frequency for any airport that is not a base/focus city. since our rule is that you cannot start a flight from anywhere except a base, it would only make sense that a one way flight could not come back from there the second day. so i see it as either that, or leave it as it is. it's a half frequency, with high fares, or one frequency with lower fares, but only making about 1.5 times the money. a little weird when you think about it..

I dont get it?

So google ads, if notice an increase in clicks on ads, start to monitor how many actually are interested VS how many are just clicking to earn the site money.

Google has specific policies in place that anyone who wishes to generate income off Google ads on their site cannot otherwise entice them to click the ads.  otherwise, any website that used their ads would probably create some ad-clicking-loop with a bunch of other websites. (i only say this after seeing how link click-based games work en masse).  Or, alternatively, it also reduces the chances that a site with google ads is going to offer free turns/daily cash/etc for viewing their ads once a day.

so. we cannot, as site proprietors tell you to do anything with the ads. we even have to be careful having our players telling each other what to do or not to do with the ads.

according to the webstatistics we use, google adsense bots hit the site 65863 times, and googlebot itself 2988 times.  Google is always watching.

   sounds so freaky...

dont know what im doing but i cant get the form to work right. plus i dont have a passenger number. so im going to tell all the info i know here and hopefully someone else can find the passenger info.

Musekgon County Airport
MKG
KMKG
Lat/Long:  43-10-10.1570N / 086-14-17.6030W
43-10.169283N / 086-14.293383W
43.1694881 / -86.2382231
Longest runway is 6501 x 150 ft. / 1982 x 46 m

i know northwest and midwest both operate about 3-4 flights per day out of there, so the passenger base can't be that big. but i dont think it's that small either. id like to see this airport in the database.

thanks

FAA says 35,937 boardings in 2006.

They haven't offically issued 2006 numbers yet....   Oct. 31st is when that is scheduled.

so....what's suppose to be done then... if someone can find numbers that we can put in the game, can someone please add this airport to the game? Thanks

They pay for the scraps they receive without a choice.
They pay for the costs of maintenance.
They pay the devaluation of money while it is sitting in an order (time-value-money).
They can't afford to lease out planes based on your model.
They would never get to a point where they could accept larger requests worth billions, because they can't even keep up with the growth of 1 single airline. (the profit % and $ are way low)
They would have cash flow problems, as in they have asset, but not cash (because the cash is either tied up with orders, unsold planes, or leased out planes)

not sure what you mean by they cant afford to lease out planes based on my model, but i understand your other points and i appologize for arguing when i didn't know everything that was involved in a brokerage in the first place. but the arguing could've been avoided too if the few reasons you just listed were pointed out to me in the first place. oh well. sorry.

this wouldnt exist if the second account was not an actual airline. you'd have one account like a normal airline, and you would not be able to broker airplanes from yourself. thus it would even competition, and reduce complaints.

And the brokerage account would go broke and go out of operation.

Read the posts before you reply! :x

And for the record, we are not allowed to broker planes to ourselves anyway. Another bloody myth.

the title in that post has nothing to do with this idea/topic that we're discussing right now. i dont have time to go into a post that has a title not related to what im talking about, just in case. and im not reading that one right now, but im sorry if this was all talked about. but i dont see what the problem is. the brokerage account would not go broke and out of business. it would not have gate fees or anything like that to cost them. give them 500,000 euro and 1 aircraft. they can either sell that one aircraft and with the 500k euro, purchase multiple smaller planes to lease. they can then raise enough money to start taking actual brokerage deals in and ordering aircraft. or start them with more money too. or they can just lease the aircraft they were started with until they have money to broker. with the fees, they only make money. they have no fees to pay. therefore they would be basically guarenteed not to go out of business. and depending on the few decisions that they have to make, they will compete in a set of their own rankings. but i will accept that it cant work even though i think otherwise. i just ask that it stay concidered.

The problem of us gettting more planes, and then operating more routes, and thus "crushing" our competitiors still remains.

If you seperate the accounts, ... we have said why that wouldn't work either.

Why not have the brokers on a separate ranking. This way they would compete to be the top brokerage. Also, if brokers want an airline they could be prevented from brokering to themselves, thus they would have to rely on each other to get planes.

I think with this scheme you could open up the brokerages as it would essentially become a separate competition. Brokers would start with a certain amount of cash and planes and then use sales to build their businesses. This would foster competition and prevent the current sudo-socialist situation that seems to be drawing so much negative attention.

I think this would make the game more realistic in the end but realise that it would mean sort of another game running in parallel with the airlines game and that might require a lot of work.

South Asian Airways -1859

i really do agree with tom's rendering of this idea. it wouldnt be like two airlines. it would be an airline, with a business on the side that does not consist of actually building an airline. although i do acknowledge that it would be pretty difficult. unless these brokers were allowed to have a second account that could be made into a special brokerage account and not set up the same way. it's seeming more and more difficult the more i type. lol

i have a suggestion, that could eliminate the false accusations of brokers being cheaters. take them off of the rankings. i assume the brokers also actually play the game. why can't their broker business, and airline be separated? display airline and airline value in the rankings, and then maybe a separate ranking to rank the brokers that exist.

dont yell at me, i cant think of anything wrong with this idea. just throwing it out there.

« on: September 19, 2007, 12:08:33 am »
well air ebonia (sorry if i spelt that wrong), can you make up for it in other ways? the inactive gates, the ones that report a problem, can you not make those automatically be returned? as we cannot create any flights from this airport. it's probobly costing me a lot of money in potential routes. also the gate fees. i don't want to lose my money for fees, along with the gates being returned because i can't use them, because of a game error. thanks
