Okay guys.....
In the US, the FAA describes boardings as 2 pax transactions. Meaning one boarding and one de-boarding. So if you double the number listed as boardings you get a VERY close approximation of actual number of passengers.
If a number looks strange to me, I check it three ways. First I look in either Kayak or Faremeasure, I use the largest major hub available close or if I know who has service there I use that particular airlines website. Second, I google the particular airport, most airports have a site of some kind, or at the very least a page on a community wesite. Third I will look through any available articles from media sources. Airport directors are apt to over report numbers to the media.
