I do like the idea of a large alliance, but I too think having all US majors in one alliance is a bit uncompetitive.

If there are some US majors willing to switch alliance, maybe we could form two alliances? Kevinaj at JFK, me at AMS...

I'm looking for a good plane that is capable of doing PEK-CGK, PEK being my base. The year is 2004. I want fleet commonality in my airline, so I wouldn't mind a new plane, but the Asian ops will be mostly that plane then.

Hi there,

As said in the title, I've got more money than I know what to do with. I'm in a private world, with about 10 airlines, my network is quite large, I've just 'refreshed' my regional fleet, and when the year changes, I'm going in to ultra-long-haul, and replace my A332s by the newly available A345s. buying the A345s will make most of my money dissappear, but with a DOC of 30mil., it's back soon enough.

I'm thinking of buying VIP versions of large aircraft, to aact as regionals with the same number of seats. So basically I'm looking fo r ways to waste money. Any other tips?

Thanks for the replies! I'm going to go with the A340-500 first then, (because it's out earlier), and later replace them with the 772 LR.

What about a cancellation button for aircraft ordered, but not yet delivered? If you make a mistake (like I just did, ordered the wrong engine variant), you can then cancel the order, and order the plane or engine variant that you wanted in the first place. Or maybe a change order function, to change engine variant? As some sort of abuse-preventer, use a cancellation fee, like the downpayment with requesting aircraft, but slightly lower.

I'd love that! In my current airline, I've got several B757-200s, 33, to be precise, and I love them for their versatality, but some of them are coming close to replacement age. Now, I'm lucky that the B752 isn't withdrawn until 2004. But I've only just started serving S-America from my main hubs AMS and MSP. I'm using Il-62s for that, but just after I bought them, they were unavailable, withdrawn. They are pretty much the only aircraft I know with a huge range, and a capacity of around 200 PAX, which is perfect, as there isn't a very large demand for S-America from AMS. If I now had to replace them, because they got too old (read: to expensive to maintain), I would have to take a 763 or 772 when it comes out. Overhauling would be the perfect solution I think!

Just wondering, are there other benefits from an alliance, apart from Alliance Routes? If not, should more be implemented?
