Not if you can use it with your email and manage a whole load of other apps with it. Can't do that with IRC.

Isn't IRC good enough?

We can answer the staff emails through it, discuss game related matters, co-ordinate with documents and spreadsheets (This one is particularly helpful) I use the Calendar for arranging my time availability, there is also some site/project management stuff we can use too. Its essentially a Google account that we use, just customised for organisational use rather than personal.
