Paradise Caribbean - my strategy?

Simple, really. Don't go bust!!

In reality, flying in the Caribbean is a nightmare, due in part to the economics of short sectors, heavy baggage loads, high frequency demands, and passengers with a small pocketbook. Each island is its own country, each wants its own 'national' airline, but no one has the cash. So right now there is only one game in town (LIAT).

My strategy? To do what others have tried and failed out of TBPB/BGI Barbados - a carrier operating a small fleet of regional turboprops, and medium & long range jets linking North America and Europe to the Caribbean paradise I call home.

Eventually I'm targetting US, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, UK, France, and most major points in the Caribbean with a mix of Fk 50's, B737's and 767's for long haul.

Comments?

In RL???   You are toast...

In the AM world... as long as you dont have a bunch of competing airlines on the same sectors ANYTHING is profitable...  Its all a matter of how profitable....

Yeah, I read this a while back and was hoping you're not talking about a real world strategy...

haha

It could work if you revise almost everything on that plan ;)

A successful airline so far in the caribean is that small Aruban carrier with like 3-4 planes.  :)

Naturally I'm not talking Real Life!! Been there, done that.

And I realize the only way that I'm clawing my way up right now in AM is that I don't have competition, and that I have ridiculously low fares in order to keep yields kinda high - I avarage about 91% load factor on 21 destinations with 4x Fk50's and 2x 732's (that I need to exchange with a pair of 734's or 735's - any for sale?)

Now, if AM allowed a Cargo version of this game, THEN I'd make a killing!!!

734´s for the Caribbean? I had a base in SXM in some world once, and I could really only fly Bombardier jets if I wanted to make any kind of decent profit. That is, for flights between the smaller islands. If you fly to, say, Mexico City, you'd be talking about something different.

MrOrange, you didn't check it carefully. The Fokker 50 turbopros are on my Caribbean routes, the 737's are for the Americas, and eventually the 767's are for Europe.
