Three possible options:
ATR-42-500 (1995)
Saab 2000 (1995)
Antonov An-140 (1999) - Most likely given the release date.

What I could do is the same setup to AE where you select your aircraft from a limited number of options, such as the 3 above, and may be the ATR72 but you get reduced cash with the latter.

Yeah I think that would be good as I'd rather the ATR 42-500 over the An-140, but obviously some may prefer the An-140 over the ATR 42-500.

Or maybe what you could do is to provide a higher starting cash and let the players buy their plane(s) on their own.

dktc, a limited selection would be good, a pure cash start wouldn't do too great because it'd slow the game down a little too much for those "perusing", you would likely not be able to do much if anything at all within the first 24 hours of an age.

stephen, sticking with a turboprop as the basis? no crj's? :P

Well... true, we need to wait for the planes :?

But say we are given a budget and get to choose from all the planes we could afford, then deduct the plane cost from that budget, resulting in the starting cash we have. That would give us more choices, wouldn't it?

much more viable, yes dktc.  if you don't see it in 2000, it may appear in 1970.   it has good potential, i kind of like it.  under X dollars and add in a 24 hour delivery time (max)....

good potential.

Looking at the data in the database its nearly viable from now to proceed with a start in 1960, just need data from 1940+ added. Also we can pull it back to 1950 but data from 1930-1950 would need to be added, a bit more work there. At that stage it might be worthwhile to have a 20 year round/age,

What about possibly starting with a CRJ-200?

Heh... Nup.
€6,358,486 a pop, considering last round's a/c purchase price was €2,849,120.

We're looking around the €3,000,000 total mark this time, plus €5,000,000 in cash.

Just noticed one thing thats not on the list that I thought really should be on the list and that is the ability to edit a route, its very annoying to have to close and restart a route just to make it profitable again when another carrier also starts that route.

Edit route is planned to be added, while a change aircraft function will also be considered.

StephenM's List

  • User Control:
  • -Auto suspend 2 week old accounts,
  • -Delete accounts beyond 3 weeks inactive (TOTAL [ie 1 week after suspension])
  • -Have daily registration openings, depending on max users levels
  • -Automated notifications of registration opening and smart operation, in co-operation with the registration mails. (No need to bore you with the details)
  • View Route
  • -Include a list of competitors
  • -Map of the route
  • -Market share on route etc
Pretty short list for the moment, but I should get it done. :) I'll expand it if I can get more before 2000.

stephen, don't turn on auto-delete until i've had a good chance to rework some if not all of the delete page.

anyways.  UPDATE NEWSFLASH.

new create_route and edit_route pages are fresh and ready for full testing/use the second 2000 hits.  Thanks again to all who have helped alpha test the new create route page.  A lot of stupid bugs have been eliminated BEFORE it gets to the masses. be pleased masses!  Also, I believe i can get the last requisite, a close_route page ready within 48 hours.

also.  new, more accurate depreciation logic (which i left off my list of the original 2000 pledge) has been ready to roll out for a few weeks.  it will also be put in place at 2000.

New create/edit/close route pages are completed.  all appear initially to be working properly through alpha testing.

EDIT: backend of leases updated.  mmm... i made my definite deadlines.  I have some major backend stuff to try to do but I will use a reasonable bit of my free time and attentions on the remainder of my pledge (primarily on the broker-tendering system).
