I'd like to know more about the history of AM...like

* when did the game start?
* who started it? (guess Stephen...)
* did it have any prior version/predecessors?

Maybe there were prior discussions around this - if so, can you please point out?

I have hoped to get around to writing a history, I know Iranair777 wants one for the magazine. To answer your questions:

* when did the game start?
Planning began around October 2005, and Registration first opened in December 2005.

* who started it? (guess Stephen...)
Initially it was 2 Americans and myself. One had hoped to return, but unfortunately a number of factors worked against us.

* did it have any prior version/predecessors?
There have been various versions of the design, about 6 different items really. The game has been continually developing with the biggest change coming about 2 years ago in the way the game was managed and coded.

Since there has been so much feedback on the new AM Design, I thought I'd dig up AM 2005-2007.

2005: The very first design

Nothing actually worked here, and it was nothing short of a HTML page.

2005: (Marked 2006) The first full design with PHP. The Register and Login area worked. We tested this on the 23rd of December 2005 (When I registered my account) and in early 2006 it was continued on.

Logged out homepage.

View Airline anyone?

2006: First full Red/Pink design. Block colour looked a variation of red to me anyway!

Homepage

Look at all the manufacturers to choose from...

182 European airports. Considered a wide range at the time.

2007: Around the 1st Birthday of AM I was working on design changes, and the launch of the cashflows. What I mentioned above as being the biggest change in the way the game was coded. These are actual screenshots used in a preview. They may still be on the forums somewhere, or lost in a previous form version.

You may recognise elements of this, they have been changed but the essence is the same.

People complain about multi frequencies now! Look at the last screen shot: 3 x 3 frequency and 1 x 5 frequency, from the same airline.
On another note, the pink logo is still on the wiki/manual.
