I hear one country forgot to register their athletics people... so they are flying back today.

Crazy.

I agree with Pacific, the ceremony was extremely good. Wonder how long these "table dudes" have been practicing!

I heard that it was an athlete from Brunei, their only athlete present

I'll be watching the Kiwis on TV :D

Still, with China being a pretty average country with its 'dodgy' reputation in politics I think if there was ever an Olympic games where a bomb or something goes off then this year's will be it.

I am looking froward to the day the London stadia opens. I think that will be one of the UKs' proudest days of 2013.

I am not interested in such an event. I look forward to London 2012.

The opening cermony was truly phenominal. China used it's cheapest resource, humans, as a change, and was very interesting. But i feel sad for the chicks that had to dance during the country marches, they were there dancing for 2 hours or so...

They're even using rent-a-crowds.

The firework footprints and the girl singing was later deemed FAKE

The fireworks were there for real, outside the stadium.
At least the fireworks actually went off, although TV viewers didn't see it.

As for the girl substitution, it wasn't a nice thing to do and China will hopefully learn from this.

To sum up the games so far:

Usain Bolt is the fastest man on earth (how long until he fails a drug test?  :P )
Michael Phelps is awesome, but should create his own country to stop the US getting more medals than they deserve.
Team GB are good for once! We own at Cycling, rowing and sailing!

Bring on London 2012.
