Aircraft Registrations are in public testing. They are automatically assigned by the country where your first base is. Aircraft cannot be re-registered unless they are bought from the aircraft market.

The aircraft registrations will be displayed on additional pages once any errors are ironed out.

One of the bugs have been resolved, this is where a character appeared where a number should in sequence.

Thanks to Bálint for his time in developing the feature and refining it.

Similar in its uniqueness, but IDs will remain the primary method of identifying aircraft by the developers.

The Reg is sort of like the aircraft ID. The more planes that are bought the lower reg goes. ie.

the 1st plane is G-AAAA, the second is G-AAAB, 3rd G-AAAC etc.

I seem to have been the first to do this in the US in my world, I got N111AA - unfortunately, I am definitely not a fan of American Airlines.  :o  Also, I was thinking along the same lines as Expressair, I had imagined we'd type in a registration, and it would either assign that registration or tell us it was not available, or we could choose to auto-assign a registration in the same way it does now.

I am wondering if there is a way we can turn off this reg system. It's a nice addition, but I prefer to make my own reg over the name area, and the reg is now just confusing to me.

Yes

When someone goes to buy the aircraft, they may choose to have the aircraft re-registered. Leased aircraft cannot be re-registered.

In order to ensure everyone will actually use the feature, it had to be automated. It is also automated to prevent the complaints "I cannot find a registration".

It may be possible to turn off, is that on all pages?

A big thanks to the developer of this feature which seems to be Balint according to Stephen's post. Its been a long time coming, in fact I can still remember joining up and having Registration - Coming soon listed in the aircraft window. Months later, thanks to the work of Balint the feature has now been released.

Certainly going to add another touch of realism to the game. Thanks again.

Hello,

the aircraft registrations were developed to mimic their real-world equivalent, the registrations painted on the tail of an aircraft.

The real registration pattern is used for each country, which means if you buy an aircraft for a US base it will get a registration like N123AB while an UK based plane gets G-ABCD, etc..

Each aircraft has a unique registration which is assigned when you buy the plane (either new, or from the used market).

There are still countries in the database which do not have a registration pattern, so if you buy a plane and it does not get a registration your base is probaby in one of those countries. We will fill in those patterns as soon as we know them..

The planes you get for free when creating an airline are not yet registered, because they are created before you select your base country. They can, however be registered later using a button on the aircraft info page.

PS: There were some problems with the numeric registrations (e.g. -1234), they were generated incorrectly so you got something like -111A after -1119 instead of -1120, I fixed this today.

In case you get a seemingly incorrect registration or do not get any (except for the free planes mentioned above) do not hesitate and contact us.

Enjoy!
