Do they appear when historically they first flew, or when they started commercial flights?

In the order of first in service, first delivery, certification, first flight, launch. When the left ones are not available, we move on to the right ones.

Basically if there is no first flight, the plane should not even be in the database. Given that we only need the year, it is relatively easy to find because even if there are conflicts with different sources, the dates would still be within one or two years. Planes that are only on paper or those that have never been finished and flown would not be added into the database.

I believe the boeing supersonic jet was a cover up for the 787 to stop Airbus "spies" looking for information othe 787. May be wrong on that one and cant be bothered to check.

The Boeing SSJ was discontinued because the Concorde was chosen. I don't think it was a cover up for 787 unless we are talking about different models.

I believe Dan380 is talking about the SonicCruiser, dktc about the Boeing SST.

The SonicCruiser would not have been a supersonic aircraft, anyway.
