This is a survey of the popularity of different aircraft companies. If you have a favourite company, please do cast your vote here. The manufacturers listed above are all the ones that I can think of; if I missed out on an obvious one please let me know, and I'll see if I could add it in.

In the meantime, you can discuss any of your favourite aircraft companies here in this thread. All are welcome!

I had a very hard time choosing and then I clicked the wrong button... I meant to select McDonnell Douglas! I also like the E-jets quite a bit!

I resetted the poll count, so you can try again. Don't make a mistake this time! ;)

Why do you like McDonnell Douglas, Matias?

I just like the looks of the MD-11. The MD-80/90 series is not too bad either :)

I like the MD-11, too. It is designed in such a way that it does not seem to have any ungainly parts, does it?
Which version do you think looks better, the DC-10 or the MD-11?

Which manufacturer I prefer is a question I have always asked myself, but never been quite able to answer.

Since I had to chose only one from the list, I went for Boeing.

The reason for this choice is that the 747 is, without doubt, my favorite of all aircraft, and the one that made me fall in love with all the others.
When I was 5 years old, we moved to Canada with my family. It's a far away memory, but I distinctly remember being at the "old" (T1) classic Charles-de-Gaulle terminal, and looking up at the jumbo jet that would fly us away to our new life. It had the old Air Canada livery (which I think is infinitely better than the strange current pale greenish one). It was a magical feeling, that only comes with childhood, Christmas, or love.

Sad too to see them being phased out these days (Air France and Cathay Pacific recently), but if I'm lucky I will be flying a Lufthansa 747 back from Tokyo this upcoming March :)

But the truth is that I like all the manufacturers for different reasons, and it's a wonderful thing that there is such a healthy competition, keeping the variety alive & well.

I was going to list all my favorites, and write a novel or two about them, but then I see its nearly 03:30 AM and I better head to bed instead.

It's an interesting poll though, and I hope to see the results when more people will have voted. Thanks for having set it up!

Do post some of your "novels"! It would make this thread more interesting, and of course, I would love to read them!

Here's a little forcast: I predict that Boeing will receive the most votes by the time this poll has ended.
Any opinions on this?

I guess you're wrong, it's 2-2 between Boeing and Airbus.

I like more the Airbus but like some Boeing models like the 747, 787 and 777.

When i "fly" on FSX i usually use aerosoft A320 with TAP livery and used to use TAP A343 on FS2004 not flying much Boeing aircrafts

If I fly them on sims (and I guess if I were to fly in real life too) I would prefer the automated systems of Airbus' aircraft

Talking about that, here's a little "competition" photo i took when we had 3 EK 777's here (one from the previous day that stayed with technical issue, a second one that went to pickup the previous day pax and the daily flight).

Curiosity: The EK on the photo was the one ferried to Dubai and the A340, CS-TOB, was also getting back to service after 3 days with a technical issue that made it make a U-turn back to Lisbon when it was already halfway between Lisbon and Luanda (landed back in Lisbon at the same hour it was supposed to land at LAD):

Where did you get all that information? Do you work at the airport?

Oh no i don't work there, it was luck, i went there to get the regular daily EK 777 taking off and got luck with that.

About the EK technical issue it was posted on a portuguese aviation forum i follow where there are people working at TAP, at the airport and other airlines the give priveleged information.

The TAP A340 technical issue was on Aviation Herald.
