Issue 01/1963

Dear valued customers,

Highlights of the month

As a new year begins, we are glad to announce that we have finally taken delivery of our first jet aircraft, the Boeing 707-320B. The first two of such aircraft touched down successively to a water cannon salute.

These aircraft boast a much faster cruising speed than our existing piston aircraft (545 knots compared to 353 knots for the DC-7C). In addition, they are also able to carry about 80% more passengers than our current aircraft.

More of such aircraft will enter service with our fleet later in the year. They will be used on medium to long-haul routes, as well as high-demand regional routes. Airports currently served by the 707 include Tokyo-Haneda, Sydney, Guangzhou, and Shanghai-Hongqiao, from our main base, Singapore. Upcoming destinations will include Dubai, Melbourne, and Beijing. They will also operate on routes from our bases in Hong Kong and Dubai.

Other than the 707, we operate the DC-7C on most of our medium-haul routes, and the DC-6B on short regional flights. We also operate two SE-210 Caravelle VI-R aircraft, leased to us by fellow alliance member Asiana Airlines, on lower-demand regional routes.

Our fleet (January 1963)
Boeing 707-320B: 2
Douglas DC-6B: 52
Douglas DC-7C: 52

Thank you for choosing East Central Airways. We hope to see you on board on future flights.

Issue #01/1964

Dear valued customers,

Highlights

We have recently taken delivery of the Boeing 727-100 aircraft. With a similar fuselage to the existing Boeing 707 aircraft in our fleet, this new regional jetliner is capable of flying into smaller airports with shorter runways. Seating 131 passengers, this aircraft allows us to expand our jet fleet to reach more passengers, bringing the speed and comfort of jet air travel to those travelling on shorter flights. With 5 currently in our fleet and 6 more on order, we are the largest operator of this aircraft.

We have continued to establish more flights to Europe from Singapore and Dubai. All these flights are operated with Boeing 707-320B aircraft. We are looking into adding more of these flights, as the demand is high.

We are also glad to announce the commencement of flights to our first African destinations. We recently started flying to Cairo, Egypt, from Dubai, followed by Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, from Dubai. Both flights are operated by Boeing 707-320B aircraft.

Our airline is fast expanding, with a total of 405 routes to 186 destinations worldwide, and a fleet of 159 aircraft. We are currently ranked 7th in the world by airline value, 6th by fleet size, and 5th by daily passengers carried.
