Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has ever used the Concorde in game (or the TU-144s) and been able to make a profit out of them and if so which is the better aircraft / how long to keep them in service?

regards
dave

I never have Concorde, but as i got some info about, it you can make this bird quiet profitable but the only way is route LHR-ORD-HNL-HND-PEK-DXB-LHR.

I have used both the Concorde and the Tu-144. I personally prefer the Tu-144, it has several variations of range, allowing for more flexible operations.

Both planes can reach a dop of ~300-600k, depending on the routings. The issue is that the planes are extremely expensive, so they won't really earn themselves back, not even with a daily profit of 600k (maybe the Tu-144S can, it only has a range of ~1300nm and is much cheaper).

My general advice for Concorde/Tu-144 (and other very expensive birds) is: Only buy them for the prestige, don't buy them for the profit.

How can you setup a route like that? I have a base in lhr and gatwick at the minute , need to work this out as I just bought one lol

I would rather suggest a route like this, as it has fewer stops:

If you have a base in LHR you would need to at least have bases in Anchorage and Dubai (DXB), or in Chicago (ORD) and Beijing (PEK).

If you would rather have the aforementioned route;

you should have bases at Honolulu (HNL) and Beijing (PEK). I am not sure if the Concorde would be able to make it though.

I assume these would be .5 routes?

Yes.
This is possible as each airport doesn't have more than two .5 routes, even though it is possible to have illogical routeing here, e.g. 1x ORD-LHR and PEK-HND - that's not possible.

right so that means at least four new hubs, 4x18m and then of course I will need to make some routes from each so say ten aircraft for each = 40 aircraft @ 50m each --- this got way expensive! so I am looking at 2.1 billion really and thats not including the concorde itself nor the four x each gate at each airport lol this will be interesting to see how i can get on!

My first post here so please correct me if I am wrong and didn't understand the game properly. But would it not be easier to just use the alliance you are in to be able to have those airports as stopovers rather than buy the gates?

Hi,
Thats is a good suggestion however I have never joined an alliance something in my head suggests its a bad idea as you allow other people to come in and use your gates as well and possibly uncut you. I know a rival airline can do that anyway however I feel safer if you will to run as an independent airline.
I have enough of a doc to support this as I wont get the Concorde until Monday next week and I already have something like 20 737-100's on order for my short range operations.
regards
dave

I just deployed a Tupolev Tu-144 on the following route pattern.  Daily profit is 756k with 0.5 hours of time remaining and I am using only 2 bases of my own bases plus two alliance base.

Own bases
ANC - LAX/PEK
DBX - LHR/PEK

Alliance Base
JFK - LAX/LHR
LAX - HNL

Routes:
NYC-LAX - 1.0
LAX-HNL - 0.5
LAX-ANC - 0.5
ANC-PEK - 0.5
PEK-DBX - 0.5
DBX-LHR - 0.5
LHR-NYC - 0.5

Due to the oddly placed 1 route, the plane is on a 2 day cycle:
Day 1
HNL
LAX
JFK
LAX
ANC
PEK
DBX
LHR
JFK

Day 2
JFK
LAX
ANC
PEK
DBX
LHR
JFK
LAX
HNL

Alliance in a public world aren't a good idea unless you have some type of understanding with the alliance members. In a private world it can be a good idea, mostly for long haul routes that the alliance member isn't using. For instance if your alliance member has a base at SVO (Moscow) and doesn't serve Pacific bases. You could run SVO-PEK and SVO-NRT, etc. without undercutting the alliance member at SVO.
