As a result Killian gets special access before the main testing. 8)

I need economic research done on the demand/social aspect of Railways in Ireland, so if you could work on that then it would be much appreciated but otherwise I'll do it. :)

A couple of places to look for financials and loadings are Jane's World Railways and Jane's Urban Transport Systems. They are available in the reference section at public libraries (except mine   ) and some University libraries. They aren't something that you can pick up at your local book store - they are a bit pricey.

Things to take into account would be passenger vs freight traffic, income, and expenses. With few exceptions, passenger systems tend to lose money (which is why they're mostly government owned). Even with the breakup of JNR and BR into private ownership, IIRC the government still retains ownership of the right-of-way. Freight traffic is profitable in the US, Canada, Mexico and Australia due to distance and capacity. Passenger rail in the US, with the exception of shorter corridor services, is abysmal financially.
