Right now you are reading the news centre of Melbourne Airlines, Australia's new airline. Melbourne Airlines was founded in January, serving as the biggest Melbourne-based airline at the present time. Ensuring a vision of a large, domestic airline, Melbourne was the perfect place to start a promising new airline, and to expand further into our beloved Australia.

With our two Saunders ST-28, we plan to buy planes with a bigger number of passenger, range and speed.

In the far future Melbourne Airlines plan to open hubs in Perth and Adelaide.

Since the last article, Melbourne Airlines have grown to become the largest airline of the world, thanks to our newly purchased Convair 640. The Convairs opened new routes to several large destinations in Australia, that the Saunders ST-28 lacking range forced us not to serve them earlier. Cairns, Perth, Alice Springs and Townsville are now a part of our route map.

More of the fleet

In a couble of years, we will sell all of our current planes and replace them with Boeing 727's and 737's. The range of those aircraft fits exactly for us, making them the most suitable planes of serving all destinations of Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

Status

We are now the largest airline in Australia (and the world) in terms of value, and currently the largest airline in terms of passengers served with around 1 850 passengers carried each day.

MAL's fleet

| 2 (1) Convair 620
| 5 (0) Saunders ST-28

*Brakets indicates orders.

Base status

Serving forty destinations from Melbourne, we are Melbourne's largest airline with a market share of 38.0%.
