What aircraft operates most profitably in the 1970-1980 period? I confirmed the fact that large aircraft do not operate well in AM when I configured the 747-200 route. :(

Are the staff working toward a more realistic simulation of large aircraft, Matias? I don't think a 747 should only earn $200,000 on a ultra-long-range flight :/.

Boeing 727/DC-8 are quite economical. Later on the Airbus 300 and 310 for very big routes.
Of other large aircraft the DC-8-60 series (the ones with 260 seats) are good, as are the MD-80 series.
In 1970 I would choose 727 or DC-8 (or some British aircraft, HS121 Trident I think) - really anything with 160-220 seats is good. If you like Soviet aircraft then the Ilyushin Il-18 and Tupolev 154 are good

The B747's & A340's etc are really fun to have in your airline. But they are not profitable due to low income + heavy maintenance costs.

The only way I found to operate these big birds is to first have a large and financially successful airline with sound finances, which will then be able to sustain the costs of these larger aircraft. If you start out early in the game with these jumbo jets, your finances could take a hit.

I kept thinking the aircraft was Concorde. I searched up Concorde, Concorde, and more Concorde. To think, the answer was so close!

I'm yet to look into it a lot, but I'll ask in the thread :)
