3900!!!!!

I like how the L-1011's nose looks like a dolphin's. Tristars certainly looked better than the DC-10.

It looks like a porpoise. The Fokker 27 looks like a dolphin though :-* RR Darts FTW!

As for the MD-11, it is just a failure. Worse than expected fuel burn translated to airlines cancelling orders.

It wasn't quite that bad. 200 sold over 12 years, as opposed to 246 A340-300s and A340-200 sold over 20 years. The A340-300 itself (the direct competitor to the MD-11) sold only 218. When the MD-11 production ended, Airbus had only delivered 160 or so. Assuming the A340NG family didn't come out, I doubt the A340 would have surpassed 200 orders. Once the engine no.2 issue was solved, the fuel burn was on par with it's competitors, the A340-300 and 777-200. So it really isn't as bad as some would think.

The Tupolev 144 is quite nice! Much better than the atrocity of the Tupolev 204. :P

The Tu-204 is certainly "interesting". Looks nicer than the 757 though ;)

The 757 looks like it was meant to be a widebody, but they just decided to shrink the diameter. Just that :P

Long, thin narrowbodies are kinda ugly

IMHO, the A330-300 nails it just perfectly with the balance between fuselage length and width.

Yeah, and also the 340-300. The A310 looks stubby on the other hand

Yes, but the A340-300 has those teeny-tiny engines. The A310 might not be nice, but it has lots of character, just like the 747SP. How can you not love stubby planes? :-*

Stubby planes are not bad, they're just disproportionate. Especially if their wingspan is longer than the aircraft itself

Disproportionate, sure, but they certainly have their own charm :)
