Cities in Motion is more like an urban transport management game rather than urban simulation.
Speaking of transport management, I just happened to stumble across a very nice game called Traffic Game. Besides its frequent crashes it is a wonderful game, better than Cities in Motion in some ways. Link:

You're right abot the crashes. It reminds of this game I tried a while ago - Chart Wars 3, and it crashed a lot.

EDIT: Just tried Traffic Game. Didn't manage to open it, it crashed. About to try the demo for Cities in Motion.

About 10 times. :P Just tried the demo for Cities in Motion, it was pretty cool. I think I had too many buses though, they kept blocking the street.

The traffic is a nightmare. Try to see if you can lower the amount of cars in the settings. Otherwise, just do subways :P
