New Airline Commences Services from Auckland

Saturday 8th May, Auckland - A new air route was established when Aotearoa Airways' Handley-Page Marathon touched down at Christchurch Airport today. Christchurch Mayor Robert Macfarlane was there to greet the inaugural landing of the scheduled flight which will better connect Auckland and Christchurch. In addition, Aotearoa Airways has established a route to the capital with a DC-3 aircraft flying four times a week.

Aotearoa Airways' Chairman Benjamin Lee has said that he intends to build routes across the Tasman to challenge Sydney-based Aeropelican's monopoly on the trans-Tasman market.

Prime Minister Sidney Holland has told the New Zealand Herald that he wholeheartedly agrees with increasing the level of competition in air travel between the two nations.
