Quote from: "StephenM"What time era to start off in is the first question, and what features to include. 1830 start date? Is track built already using networks from a different date or do you build the track? Are stations custom built or whats there in real world etc?Another situation could be an option for narrow gauge and standard gauge, with corresponding price differences. Narrow gauge was cheaper to build, especially in mountainous areas. Plus due to weight and size restrictions, NG rolling stock was cheaper to build also. NG posed some challenges, as rolling stock couldn't be easily utilized on standard gauge rails (not counting converting European to Russian gauge). Lines had to switch to standard gauge eventually (as the DRGW) or go under (such as the RGS).Early on, gamers could build with NG to save on costs, but may have to update track and rolling stock later on.
