So, which continent do you guys prefer to operate from, and why?

For me it's Africa, because it's challenging.

I try to move around a little to get some different experiences and hopefully learn some new geography! India, China, Ireland, Argentina, the United States are all my normal haunts.

I usually haunt Terminal 1 at Dorval-Montreal.

I've started games in South Africa, Austria, Kazakhstan, Japan, i think.

Europe is the best in terms of expansion (together with the US), but I like to go different places on earth.

Usually I start in Europe.

Both Europe and North America. I find that it too easy to get big profits in America as there are so many large airports. Europe is fun as it has a wealth of different countries and probably more very large airports than America but fewer large ones.

For the past five "worlds" (I call them "seasons" for some reason or another, hehehe), I've based my airline in Asia because I've seen lots of potential in the region, especially China, India, and Southeast Asia being large-growth regions. Plus, more airlines are sprouting out in the region than anywhere else, with new airlines coming out like, what, monthly? I just like to base my airline where the growth is happening at a rapid rate.

I tried the Middle East for a change. Really like it! I will never be #1 in that world but it's way more of a challenge. When you know the drill you can be #1 in every world when you start at the premium hubs like London/Paris/Frankfurt/Atlanta/O'Hare etc. ;) I'm at several <20 mln airports in the Middle East now and it's quite a lot of fun. You should give it a shot :D

Europe, then NAmerica if I'm going for rank in a fast paced game, Asia if I want to play semi competitively but more laid back, and Africa/SAmerica is I just want to have a super laid back round, maybe a few hour per week. I've never tried the Middle East or Australia. Maybe I should give Antarctica a shot as well ?

Good luck. 3 airports far from each other with almost no passengers. Hell, even Greenland or Iceland would give you higher yields.

I've kind of become hooked in - on Asia.

However, I am about to end in a public World where I learned so much that in effect it has lost some of it's challenges.

I am playing in a fun relatively small World at the moment, again in Asia, however there is lots of scope to grow on other Continents, however, any future Worlds I play in I want to challenge myself and will NOT be an Asian 'based' carrier. At least at the start.

The most fun I ever had was basing myself in Honolulu!

Slow growth to start with, you really have to max out the hours on researched A'C initially, then very carefully choose L'H A'C as that is where your only viable high yield income comes from.
Then naturally, opening bases elsewhere.
I connected my HNL base by then opening in Australasia.

It took quite a lot of planning and research which was a lot more fun than ordering say, 10 A319s and just adding gates at NRT.

I don't really join any World these days expecting to win, a top 10 finish is enough, any higher a bonus.

What ever I play, I always ensure the game is 'fun' for me to take part in.
