The recently announced new route maps are progressing nicely. We have them working for both airlines and alliances. As we work through some of the finer detail in the route logic, such as making sure routes do not take the long way around the world and instead go to the edges of the maps we would like your input as to what colour scheme to use.

We would like to know what colour you think the following should be:
  • Countries
  • Oceans
  • Airports
  • Main base/home base
  • Other bases
  • Route lines

We plan on separating out each base so you can view either all routes or each base independently on the same map.

If you have any comments or feedback on the current map, please do not hesitate to let us know.

If you could make the colors the same as in the old map, it would be great! And for the hubs... Black as main hub and blue or grey for secondary hubs.

But what about this....

Being able to personalise it to your own airlines colour scheme? Amazing.

I never ask for much ;)

The map looks great, especially if you can zoom in & out.

I agree that the colour schemes on the current map are more peaceful & relaxing to the eyes than the colors used above. Namely blue for the seas and a whiter shade of pale (beige or such) for the landmass.

Other colors could do as well, as long as they're soft.

Just my two centimes worth.

First of all thanks for the preview of the maps.  I have enjoyed working with them and they help in the planning aspects.  I was wondering if there could be a toffle that would show the location of all airports?  That would make it easier to schedule routes.

On the color issue:

I think the base (land, ocean) should be muted (grey's, beige, etc.)

Your own hubs should be in a bright color (like red) and your own routes should be blue.

Alliance hubs should be in a dramtically different color.   It would be nice on an alliance map to be able to assign each airline a different color....I know it is asking a lot, it would be nice.

When would these route maps become available?

looks great! now, will this replace the current red-line maps when we click on our airlines rank? And will all routes show despite the amount of routes an airline has?

They should be released in the next 2 weeks.

Depending on how users find the waiting time for the maps to load we will replace the full route maps currently generated with the GC Mapper. Individual routes (Point A to Point B) style maps will not be changing over for now. And the map software will show all routes that you have in your airline. We are currently examining how large alliances are working out in W1467 as alliances will also have routemaps from the launch.

can we have a choice of which map type we would like? I personally like the GCM

Which version, the old or the new? If memory serves me right, don't we still have the old version in play? I'd say I agree that the new version of GCM would be a nice alternative

It would be possible to provide it as an option. I will try and package that in.

I must get around to adding in the updated GCM. I remember looking at it before and it may have longer information in the URL, so less airports can be displayed. Not sure since its been a while.

I agree.

    * Oceans: Light blue.
    * Airports: Dark blue
    * Route lines: Red
