New Routemap on its way

Just a quick update as its been very quiet lately. Due to the fact most of the staff are in full time courses in various Universities around the world we haven't had as much of a chance to keep development moving along. As the summer approaches more time is becoming available and here's one of the early releases we hope to start off with. Until we assess the full performance impact of the route maps they will first appear in Public worlds.

I think it's a great idea... Although I'm not a big fan of the yellow color... but it's just my opinion.

I do have a remark. Maybe an added "View routes by hub" option could be implimented while viewing the Route Map. I think it would come in handy especially when one would like to see all the routes that are flown from certain hubs.

Stephen, this is an amazing map! It still doesn't beat Google Maps. However, it is an alternative. Kedep up the good work! I'm proud to see so much of your heart and sould put into improving the flight maps. :D

The colour scheme is open to review, its a slightly modified version from the example's provided with the map. So we will be changing things around until we are happy.

That will be one of the features we hope to launch with.

For anyone interested, if you join up to World 1467 (The newest public world) we are giving out a free preview for all airlines who simply ask for it. We will also be demonstrating the first alliance route map also very shortly.

How does the map handle flights from say Hawaii to Japan or Taiwan... Would it strech across the pacific or go over the US, Europe and the rest of Asia?

Awesome map! It's beautiful to see and shows a lot of details of airports and routes. I'm looking forward to see it fully implemented in the game.  :)

Actually, great circle mapper is not so useful, because it lacks either zooming and showing airports names. Unluckily google route map doesn't work at all in my game.

I found a bug with the new map system.
I am not sure if it's right to post it here, or I should post it in the bug section.

However, with the new map, only the first 45 airports are shown. After 45 airports, when you buy new airports (and create new routes), they simply don't appear on the map.

The world is: Public World #1609
