Unrealistic Routes?

Hello all,

I just discovered this game, and I love it. So thanks to all those involved in making it happen.

However I'm just surprised in the first game that I'm playing that unrealistic routings seem to be chosen by competitors.

For example: CDG to Orly, or Heathrow to Luton

In real life if you'd want to go from De Gaulle to Orly, you'd probably have to fly out to Madrid or someplace, and catch another plane back to Orly.

Are there system safeguards or rules about users creating such flights, or is it just part of the game?

There are no rules against it, and it will make a lot of money (taking up much less time on the aircraft), and so many players make routes like these.
There are a number of exploits in the game allowing people to make extra money. In AM, if you play realistically, you will not achieve the top rankings - depends what you want to do.

OK I understand. Personally I won't set up such routes, I suppose being #1 will not be my main goal then. Instead setting up the realistic airline of my dreams will be what I'll strive towards.

Commercial flights like IAH-HOU, OAK-SFO, and BUR/SNA/ONT-LAX have existed in the past.

I grew up like 4-5 miles from KHPN (Westchester County Airport, NY) and the final for KLGA (LaGuardia Airport, NY) was directly over my house.  I find it absolutely ridiculous to have a flight between these two airports, or the other NYC airports for that matter.  Driving between these two airports is a 30min drive, hour at most with heavy traffic.

So I have a hub at KLGA in this game, and I don't plan on flying to KHPN, KEWR, KJFK, or KISP.  KISP is the most believable route, but still kind of silly.  

EDIT: I am eating my words... Had an aircraft with a bit of time left but couldn't go to a much further destination... Just made KLGA-KHPN.  Fantastic.
