besides, if we were to start in 1955 as i sugested, the DC-3 would be small...the 707 and most other 1st gen. jets will be out (as well as the much larger prop-liners like the Connies and B377), efectively dwarfing the DC-3 in the way that a 767 dwarfs the ATR-72....

well, then if the DC-3 wont be the starter, what will it be? a Lockheed Lodestar or Electra?

the DC-3 really is the best choice. it is the plane that sooooo many real airlines started with in that time period...it just makes sense.

from wiki:
Quote
After the war, thousands of surplus C-47s were converted to civil service and became the standard equipment of almost all the world's airlines, remaining in front-line service for many years...

look to the signature of FWA2500, this plane isn't above average :D

and a ATR-72-500 is very much bigger than the ATR-42, and he was the default plane, what's the problem with the DC-3?  :D

well, the 3m... 1,5m is fine, can buy 3 planes and still having some cash

indeed.....its normal operating configuration was about 25 seats +/-....thats barely more than the B1900D and a bit less than the Do 328's in modern terms....

DC-3 is very small and 3m isn't so much, we will need some money to buy some planes  :D    :D

DC-3 is "above average" in 1950. The planes are dirt cheap then. You could buy like 5 planes and still have $$ for gates with 3 mil.

the connies and 377's were bigger, faster, more capable and are from the mid 40s....yes, the DC-3 was large when it was new, but post war, it was just "average" with the introduction of these larger military transport-based propliners...

DC-3 and 3m? :D

sounds good to me :) ....also glad everyone seems to like the idea of starting mid-decade (1955 vs. 1950/1960)......that should not be too hard to code into the game, its just a date that would pass anyway....

Too big; too much $$.
(At least in my opinion)

a DC-3 too big??? it was THE plane that almost EVERYONE flew....IMO i think it would be the ideal starter acf...

Fly Douglas Planes! :D

must have the DC-8.......your going to have to put me on suicide watch if not, haha.....seriously though.....cant have the 60s without the DC-8.......its like missing the 777 in the current round.....you just cant

DC-8 will be added, trust me. looking at this list there's probably around 60 aircraft left to add, and me and dktc (and others) seem to keep finding more to add.  DC-8 was temporarily skipped, as was the Cessna Citation series, to be returned to later and/or added by rick while dktc recovers from his amazing service. Dktc stopped today at LET's 3 models so he hasn't hit Tu yet.

Have no fear, my friends. have no fear.

I'm particularly most impressed so far with the Israeli Air Industries (IAI) additions. who saw that one coming?

sounds good...

oh, while looking at some of the new acf, i notice the King Air C90GT is listed as having 11 seats....i work line service at the local airport and we have a C90....at most you can seat 6 pax (with one sitting on the toilet), 11 is a physical imposibility unless 5 are sitting on the other's laps ;) lol...it is not that big of a plane, even without the 'luxury seats', the cabin is just not big enough for 11 people....and if you did manage to cram 11 in, they would not be able to take anything with them...
