Hi there,

Currently it just has to drop, there is no way to extend a lease at the moment.

Game Strategy / Re: How to increase D.O.C.
« on: February 05, 2013, 12:44:29 am »
Hi there,

Firstly welcome to Airline Mogul. :) Your on the right track with KFC CV5800's. In World 2546 they are quite a popular aircraft. This is due to their low ownership costs, relatively high speed and range as well as a decent capacity. You should start aiming to grow the capacity on your routes by ordering bigger aircraft. The first step will be achieved by the CV5800's. What other airlines have done in this world is progressed onto Fokker 70/100's before stepping onto the Airbus and Boeing narrowbodies. You will find that up to 130-150 seat range aircraft your profits should grow as you deploy bigger aircraft.

Find an aircraft mix that works for you, as new larger aircraft come in you can use them to re-deploy smaller aircraft onto new routes or new bases. You will find that being based in Boston you will run out of airports within a short distance, having a second base in the region (More south west) will help cover your gate costs as you increase utilization. If you end up going to Los Angeles straight away the chances are most of your gates will be new and you will drive up your costs further.

I hope this helps, let us know if you have any more questions.

Hi there,

Firstly welcome to Airline Mogul. To start again, simply click on the Support link on the top right of the screen and send a message saying you would like your airline to be reset. Be sure to include what world you are playing in. Alternatively you can also email us at  :staff: from your registered email address.

I would recommend that you use our research route feature before renting a gate. You will find it under the Operations tab between Create Route and Rent Gate. That will show you a list of aircraft capable of flying a route, so you can see if yours in listed there.

Let us know if you have any more questions.

Just to help me get my head around this, are routes for an aircraft flown in order?

Say I assign a plane 3 flights: 101, 103 and 105. Is this then the order they are flown for that aircraft during the 24 hours period?

The game itself doesn't need the flights to get into any order but it must fit the logic that we have provided it with. There may be one or two quirks however if you keep playing around with 0.5s on the same aircraft.

I only started playing recently enough too. It's a great game, very well built Stephen.

Welcome! I am glad you are enjoying it.

The idea is that on a 0.5 the plane flies out on Day 1, and returns on Day 2. So something like this may happen:

Day 1:
X---A---X---B---X---C
Day 2:
C---X---A---X---B---X
and so on.

The routes must be logically linked, the plane must be able to flow through each route you try to make it fly. You can fly from X-A, X-B and lets say B-C, (Assuming B is a base or an alliance hub). You should not be able to close X-B as the plane has no way to get out to C.

It is just a way to classify them. When I originally built it I had hoped to offer some benefits in terms of statistics but I was lacking in imagination I guess as to what you can do with it. The main objective was to help people manage larger fleets.

Suggestions / Re: Early Aircraft Orders
« on: January 10, 2013, 03:58:54 am »
It has always been something I have been tempted by. And the implementation I would do is the year of entry - time to deliver an aircraft. So for a smaller aircraft you can order from 1 Dec of the previous year allow deliveries to arrive on 1 Jan. Same for an A320 which takes two months, so it would be available for order on 1 Nov of the previous year. I never sat down to see how difficult it would be for me to amend the code to allow that, I must do that in the near future.

General Chat / Re: Maintainance costs?
« on: December 26, 2012, 01:07:25 pm »
The current formula has no way to estimate the cost of maintenance. It is not based on each aircraft but rather the fleet as a whole. If you have a large delivery of aircraft at once it will really cause problems, especially if you have an older fleet. It just makes the values jump while the average age stays high, resulting in a big bill at the end of the month.

Ironically the more realistic way is to calculate costs on fleets as a whole rather than individually. Sometimes it is hard to attribute costs and overheads to a particular aircraft. The new formula was designed in mind to calculate costs for each aircraft individually. The formula I use updates itself automatically and I simply take a snapshot when the game is ready to charge maintenance costs. The intention is to allow users to see their monthly maintenance cost per plane every month, as well as an estimated cost for the next month end.

Because a new formula will be so different from the old one, it wont be able to be applied to worlds already in existence. I have been building some of the infrastructure required for the new formula into each world for quite some time, but I wont be offering it as a retrospective upgrade when it is ready.

If anyone here plans to open a new private world I can enable a new maintenance formula for you to try out. I am not happy with the results but it does not penalise you for such older aircraft, and looks more at fleet commonality, and how hard you fly your planes. For example if you use aircraft flying 24 hours a day on very short sectors the bill is much higher compared to less frequent longer sectors. It is still in development and so it is not recommended for widespread use until I fix a few issues in its costs.

Game Updates / Airline Mogul turns 7!
« on: December 23, 2012, 09:19:23 am »
Today is the official birthday of Airline Mogul. The game has now reached 7 years old. We would like to thank all our players for supporting the game over the past 7 years and look forward to a 2013 with further improvements and enhancements.

As part of our celebration we will offer 25% off all token packages from December 23rd to December 30th. Simply visit the Purchase Tokens page.

During the above period our staff may not be available to answer support emails and messages. We hope to return to normal service levels around the 30th of December. We also hope to roll out Hotswap (The ability to change an aircraft on a route without closing it) progressively in the early New Year. It has been in test for quite some time with no outstanding bugs. :)

Suggestions / Re: Lease Cancel
« on: December 10, 2012, 11:45:08 pm »
There was always an intention to do a lease cancellation system. I like to try to keep everyone happy and I could never get consensus on the issue. In hindsight I should have just implemented for the greater good. :)

My main advice to you is to keep lease duration's short, these situations occur but more importantly you should build your business model around disposing of the aircraft before they get too costly when you try to be a broker. Typically what I did as a broker was to lease an aircraft out for 2-3 years and when they get returned just sell them at 50% of value for a quick sale. I normally made a good return and always had low maintenance costs.

Bugs / Re: Research Route...
« on: November 21, 2012, 10:10:33 pm »
I have resolved the problem. In order to make sure it behaves correctly you have to force a refresh on the research route page in your browser. You can do this by holding down CTRL and pressing the F5 key. After the page refreshes everything should be back to normal.
