Game Strategy / Re: FAQ

Remember, the very large planes in AM are not profitable. Things like 747s, MD-11s and A340s will often cost more in maintenance than you will make back in tickets.

You guys are working on a fix for this aren't you? In the real world, economies of scale make these types of aircraft extremely profitable, though airlines must be careful when and how they use them and of course they put a limit on the numbers that they own. An example would be that 747's and A380's make the most profit on trans-pacific routes, and are less profitable on trans-atlantic where A340's and 777's tend to be profitable.

The big widebody planes like the 747's, 767's and such shouldn't kill your airline if used properly. In other words, used on routes between large cities at half the distance or more of their range, especially with no or minimal competition. Anything closer and you'll get killed by competing short and medium range aircraft.

Game Data / Re: Missing Airport

I thought Orange County - John Wayne airport wasn't in the game, but it's listed as Santa Ana. Is there a special place where we post name corrections for airports?

Bugs / [Fixed] Airline logo not updating
« on: March 01, 2009, 01:49:35 am »
I recently changed my airline name, and after managing to do that I tried uploading a new logo to finish the re-branding. The "change logo" function in the admin panel seems to work and says it was uploaded successfully, but the logo fails to change on all screens.

I'm in PW 350 ID:22083

Okay, thanks. I'll just keep "The beast" in the air as much as possible until then.

So the maint costs don't vary depending on how much the plane is used?

General Chat / Question about parked aircraft

I'm in W350 and am finally digging myself out of the initial start up debt. Once I am able to lease or buy a plane that better suits my needs, I was thinking of parking the Potez 841 since it gets terrible fuel mileage, has high maintenance costs and doesn't carry that many people. My question is: If I do park this plane, are my maintenance costs on it going to go down to almost nothing? I'm thinking it would actually be more cost effective to simply not have this plane in the air until I can sell it. The problem is that currently there are to many of these on the used market. So I'd like to wait for a better time to try and sell it.
