Title: Aircraft queries - Full World
Post by: ashuji on February 04, 2011, 08:28:36 am
Airline ID: 39535 World ID: Public World #1841 Current world year: June 1993 Current bases: Beijing Capital International / Hong Kong - Chek Lap Kok DOC: € 17,899,943 Forum code: Airline Mogul - See my airline (http://www.airlinemogul.com/airlinemogul/show_airline.php?id=39535&wid=1841)
Goals: Top 10 ranking , airline value.
As this is my first FULL world in the real sense, I need some suggestions about the way I feel like playing here.
I plan to operate mostly A/c with over 400 speed , is that viable ?
Bombardier CRJ-100LR for < 2 mil Pax cities.
Fokker F28 Fellowship 4000/6000 for 2-8 mil Pax cities
Fokker 100's for > 8 mil Pax cities
Assumptions :
The above mentioned cities are in the A/c range
F-100's to be replaced by better/ bigger A/c for > 15 mil cities when it is affordable.
There is minimal competition atm, 1-2 competitors with 70+ seater ATR's or BAe ATP's or smaller A/c.
I have read time and again that ATR's or BAe ATP's are very profitable, but TBH I dont feel like doing so many routes on numerous small A/c's.
Could you all kindly have a look at my airline and tell me :
if its possible to do without ATR's or BAe ATP's .
are the Pax limits correct that I have set for these A/c's.
Can F-100's be the mainstay of my airline for the next 1-2 game year ?
Hope to recieve similar guidance as I have done in the past.

The CRJ is much too small to use in PEK. You need a minimum of 70pax aircraft to any airport ex-PEK. That is why the ATP is such a great plane, especially for under 10M.

@ pseudoswede : Thank you for clarifying .
I too feel CRJ's a bit small , so I will be operating the following for < 10 mil pax cities : 1) BAe ATP's : < 920 NM
2) Fokker F28 / 6000 : 920 >1352 ( specially the large cities < 10 mil)
3) ATR 72-200 920 < 1657 ( the F28 leftovers)
Another A/c coming to mind is Antonov An-74 (Seats68 / Speed 377 / Range 2733 / Price €21,915,728) and the KFC one coming next year.

The An-74 is a mix between a jet and a turboprop, in essence it's a cheap, slow jet (or expensive, fast turboprop).
It's SLOOOOW! And rather expensive considering how slow it is. 1993, is the Chinese 60 seat turboprop out yet? How about the Avro jets?

The best will be Fokker 70. Avro planes are slow.

I created a base at london gatwick, and i am loving the way ATP's/ F-28 are minting money.
I need to ask you all about the most profitable A/c as per your experience ,for routes from Gatwick to other 20 mil + cities in Europe .
One needs to keep in mind that most of the big cities are closely situated ( within a few hundred NM's or even closer) and the high turn times taken by A/c which literally grows with the seating capacity.
There are a few competitors who are running ATR's/ ATP's or F 28's mostly, but bigger A/c are expected sooner or later. . For the short term I have F-100's available, which i shall be using on these routes.

There is no "most profitable aircraft". Try aircraft search, it is a great tool - just like gate search.
Right now, I would say Fokker 100 (cheap and fast), MD-80's (big, decent range, cheap for its class) or A320 (big, fast)

Thanks a lot for the trouble you took to help me out.
I do use the A/c search functions alongwith other game tools.
The thing is, the big cites are mostly under 1000 Nm from Gatwick -Heathrow is just 26 Nm away- so I dont need the range/ I need speed maybe, and a quick turn time. The only question needs to be dealt is, how many seats am i to put between Gatwick ( 32 mil pax) and other 20 + mil pax cities.
Later on it would be alright, as I would just be using leftover hours of big birds- while connecting gatwick with other closeby big cities.

Use a cheap and fast (450+ knots) plane with 130+ seats. That's what I suggest.
But always see if there is another plane with roughly the same specs, just cheaper.

XAC? good for hong kong routes only 6m and capable of flying to taiwan with a load of 50 passengers although a bit slow!

I don't get it why you don't feel like doing many routes on small A/C? It's perfect to do as many (different) routes as you can with any aircraft.
Personally, I don't buy too much different types of A/C. Three types should be enough :P
80-120PAX: <2000nm routes, <1.000.000 airports +/- 180PAX: <2000nm routes, <80.000.000 airports (I don't do too much of these. Too much route price changes due to the large amount of competition :P) And one type of L/H aircraft. I prefer A332's or B762ER's.
About the lifespan of aircraft like the F100, those will work fine until they're like 5 years old. I usually replace S/H aircraft once they reach 5 years.
