General Chat / Anyone else have a 'hurt' airline created for them??

growth in competetive games inherently increases competition. this implicitly results in people who have been in the game before others ending up being annoyed with the game because "its not like the good old days". thats normal process in every computergame and even thing called life. i like competition.

I agree.  i loved the good old days when you'd only have like 2 or 3 competing airlines at the same base as yours.  Also, they typically didnt sell $1 fares either.  Now, you have $1 fares, and like 15 airlines sharing bases.

Yes, I LOVE competition, don't get me wrong there.  But I feel that it has just gotten out of control to a point where it makes the game less fun (for me at least).  With so many airlines, I personally have found the game less fun than it was before when we capped the registration number.  I stopped playing the game about 1 month ago and am anxious for the reset because I have gotten sick of doing "damage control" on a bi-daily basis, rather than focusing on expansion, which is the fun part and not having to worry too much about fixing my airline.

Could we just cap the registration like we did before?  It'd be cool if we could limit the number of airlines, or open up multiple worlds with limited airlines (which I think is being discussed).

Advice: Learn to settle for 85%+ LF's, it'll make some of the small changes less frequent and less annoying... the sub 85%'s though tend to need updating.  I've got quite a few sitting in the mid-upper 90%'s that i'm quite content to leave there, as adjusting it will just cause a vicious cycle and will not yield a sufficient change in DOP.

That's a good strategy, but it doesnt really work when you have large aircraft with lots of frequencies.

Like airline X will have their fare at say, $100.  Then if I go to like $101, i'll have an LF of 50%, but when i go to like $100 or $99, it'll jump to 100%.  So in this case (which is a wide spread issue), its not really possible to get 85%.

Bugs / Selling planes
« on: July 21, 2007, 12:21:24 am »
I've noticed this too with other planes that I tried selling at overvalue.  I wasnt too worried about it because they were cheap planes (so there wasnt a huge difference between what I was able to sell the plane for and what I should have been able to sell it for)

Anyways, I'd say I was only able to sell them at like 110-120% (that's just a guess from my memory)

You can also speed up the process without typing in all airport codes yourself, otherwise I wouldn't ever have made this:

How'd you do that?

By the way, here's mine.  I restyled it so that it would fit my company colors, as well as shrunk the lines so they wouldnt be as fat.  I also changed the Icons for the airports

If you guys want to create your own route map for your airline, here's a great resource to do so!  I personally use it and love it, and have my entire airline's routes mapped out in Google Earth.

Here's the link:
http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/calculators?format=googleearth

Scroll down to the section that says "Draw routes between multiple airports."  All you have to do is enter in the routes such as DEN-LAX, DEN-SEA, etc. and select some options, and hit draw map.

O ya, one more thing...yes, this is sort of a blond moment lol...so if I see a request in the used ac market, that airline wants someone to buy planes for them?

So if someone puts out a request for say, $1 billion worth of planes, does the player who takes the deal need at least $1 billion so that the planes can be ordered?

Bugs / Stuck with a leased plane
« on: July 06, 2007, 04:02:43 am »
Airline ID: 230
Plane ID: 40425

I leased the plane from Armadillo Air (ID:715) for $2,500.  This was really cheap and I wanted to take advantage of it, and I think it just so happened that at the exact same time I leased the plane, the leasing price was changed to $250,000.

It was really weird, I had the aircraft "leased", but it still appeared on the Used Market page.  Another weird twist was that somehow I became the lessor of the plane (the aircraft info page had an option for ME to remove the plane from the market).

So I just clicked that to see what would happen (I knew Armadillo had charged $2,500 on accident, and I wanted to return the plane because I was in a good mood).

The plane is now delisted from the used market, but it still shows up on my menu.  The aircraft info page now says no one owns the plane and that the lease rate is $0.  There is an option to return the aircraft, but when I click it it gives me a message:

Lessor:
User ID: 230
Error! You are in no way connected with this lease.

Stephen, please return this plane to Armadillo Air (ID: 715).

Bugs / Glitchy Load Factor

Wow that is pretty weird.  Yes, there's plenty of competition on the route.

Bugs / Glitchy Load Factor
« on: July 05, 2007, 08:10:52 pm »
I'm not sure if this is an urgent bug, or even a bug at all.  But the Load Factor script is kind of glitchy.  I noticed it on a few other routes I've edited, but decided to bring it up on this one.

I was editing my DEN-SLC route.  At $803 the LF is 87.07%; at $802 the LF is 87.29%, at $801 its 87.55%, and then when I entered $800, it jumped to 100%.  Even at $800.000001, the LF is 87.77%.

So, this isn't really a bug in my opinion, just a glitchy script.

Not sure if it has to do with the aircraft, B734ER, or the route edit function, or if it affects every plane and both creating new routes and editing routes.

So does that mean we can't add anymore US airports for the time being?

The sum

Ok, there's a whole list of Pacific Northwest United States airports I'd like to add, however, the PDF document I was looking at on the FAA's website with 2005 data lists enplanements only.  Would it be fair to just simply double that number?

Is the passenger data supposed to be just enplanements or the sum of enplanements and deplanements?

The new features look great!  Nice job!

Just one little thing.  When you go to view gates, would it be possible to make the link default to "All Gates"?  Right now, it defaults to the dropdown menu and its getting a little bit inconvenient having to click on it and select "all gates" every time.  And then, if people wanted to further organize them by continent, they could with the dropdown menu.

But other than that, everything else looks pretty awesome :D
