You can't force him (or anyone) to return the plane. You removed up, live with it. Thats how it works in real life as well.

Try to barter a replacement with him instead.

Yes I know, but that's not really my point. It's just not "fun" like that, except for him. I'm afraid the mentality in this game is... yeah, removed up?

No, the game isn't removed. If you don't like it, start a new airline in a different world, or ask for a reset. This is incidentally what happens in the real world as well.
