Here are the average member rankings for alliances, dated on July 1983 and based on the alliance rankings as viewable in-game at Rankings > Alliance.

Note that alliances with only one member have been taken out of this list. Misspellings in alliance names are due to misspellings in the AM Database. The above ranking is based on the alliance rankings as they were on the 14th Jul 1983, at around 10:30 GMT.

Yup, which is not technically fair, if I say so myself.

Yeah, make one without the brokers :)
And an alliance is not about being first or having the most members, it's about being together for the good of many, no matter if you are a big shot out of FRA, LHR or ATL or a small island hopper in the Caribbean.
If a list like this mattered to alliances they would deny entry for all small airlines...

1) Create a list without brokers yourself, I don't have the time.

2) This list is just for comparison on a different scale than total value, not in any way a list to see which alliance is the best.

Apart from you meaning doesn't, I don't care about the entire list. If my alliance came last, I wouldn't care. If my alliance came second, I wouldn't care. Right now, I don't care. I can keep saying this, so I'll do it once more: I don't care. Go create a list without brokers, I didn't feel like it so I didn't.

Neither do I :D
I understand what the intent was, and it would be nice if there were more statistical possibilities on both individual and alliance rankings.
I work a lot with statistics so I suppose I am damaged by that
And you sound like a grumpy old man today MrOrange, and you usually are not ;)

It depends on the alliance. Some alliances' have open membership so anyone can just sign up in-game. For other alliances' you have to be voted in. Usually this means posting in their alliance thread or posting on their own private forum with information about your airline. Once given the go ahead you would apply in-game and the members would vote you in. As far as I know FT alliance is the only one that is by invitation only. Read the threads in the alliance forum, most welcome applications.
