If you take away the official brokers, Elite Skies would have been number one!

That would still not be a fair statistic, as brokers do have an airline value that counts towards their alliance total :) But you're right on the calculating bit.

It depends on the alliance. Some alliances' have open membership so anyone can just sign up in-game. For other alliances' you have to be voted in. Usually this means posting in their alliance thread or posting on their own private forum with information about your airline. Once given the go ahead you would apply in-game and the members would vote you in. As far as I know FT alliance is the only one that is by invitation only. Read the threads in the alliance forum, most welcome applications.

I'm curious about something...how does FT invite people into their alliance? Does a member send a message in-game to invite them?

They "know" each other from another forum.

And no, not all alliance go by invitation. Most go by application in their own forum, but there are open alliance which everyone could join (but then they would not be organized~)

I see. Just making sure there is not in-game messaging going on about alliances.  :D

That depends, if all members operate out of hubs like FRA, LHR, ATL and so on then it's not impressive, but it it is 11 members doing bush flying in South America, Australia etc then it's VERY impressive...
