The poll is only as valid as those that visit the forum.  The real poll is online.  Votes based on Euros:

Rank: No in Service: Aircraft Type:
1 12,746 Douglas DC-3
2 6,422 Curtis CW-20
3 4,991 Lockheed Super Constellation L-1049
4 2,823 Martin 4-0-4
5 2,783 Convair 240

6 2,159 Lockheed R6V Constitution
7 1,943 Douglas DC-6B
8 1,754 Boeing 377 Stratocruiser
9 1,432 Bristol 170 Wayfarer
10 1,144 Martin 2-0-2

Keep in mind that - even though the DC3 isn't included in the poll - everyone gets one as startup plane!

For the shorthauls, I prefer the Bristol Wayfarer. Good range at a bit over 2000, reasonable passenger numbers at 32 and I think the fuel efficiency is good, unless I'm mistaken. I use the Curtis on longer routes. Advantages of both of them: they're cheap to buy.
