From the game wiki page

Quote
The limit is 6 bases. When hubs come online these will be limited to 4, so in total the maximum number of airports that an airline can fly from will be 10(not limit to Alliance Routes).

What is the difference between them and what exactly are hubs?

My question is what classifies a base as a hub?  With a base/focus city, it's 4 gates or more (more than 30 daily frequencies)

Hubs are not implemented yet. All airports you can fly from at the moment are focus cities only, which you could have 6 max, including your base. (not counting alliance bases that is).

When hubs are put in, what exactly will they be?

No idea when, but eventually. I don't think anyone knows what exactly they will be yet. The developers may have some idea or a model in mind, but that could be changed during the development process.

Whomever wrote that wiki is off, to my knowledge.

Anyways. Hubs will be souped up Focus Cities.  They will have an associated hub effect, where your own airline's operations have a positive impact on your route's demand.  FC's are the basic level, which allow you to create originating routes; Hubs will be the major FC's where you have a noticable impact on your routes demand simply becuase of your size/scope of the hub.  There may even be Major hubs, which have a stronger impact on demand then the typical hub.

Likely, the caps/numbers of these levels will be somewhat pyramid style where possible FC > possible Hubs > possible Major Hubs.  exact numbers, or effect, is somewhat unknown at present.  depending on how intimidated i get with multiworlds, i may roll out hubs before finishing multiworlds. (completing multiworlds takes updating just about every file in use by the game... some 200+ files).

So hubs aren't going in until next round?

I was thinking today we should scrap hubs altogether, and increase the number of bases. Just give the "hub effect" on all routes instead based on O&D.

What about making all airports that you have a terminal at is your Hub or just make bases called Hubs  :)

Or you could add the "hub effect" only to bases that you built terminals at?

And do we really need more bases? Think about what it was like the end of last round. I think more bases would just make this worse until there are multiple worlds to split up the player pop.
