I think the transitions from piston to turboprop to jet would be interesting and you get more range of that if you start in 1950.

are population, passengers and gate prices going to be lower?

For the moment no, everything will be in ~2004 prices.

but in 1950 there was alot less passengers then 2007.

less passengers means less demand. will there be less airports as well or will airport data not change??

Data will not change. The demand formula has been slightly altered though.

With this amount of players, we can't afford to have less airports. In fact, Rick is adding more into the database.

1960, because you can at least fly 8,000km with a 707.

If we do the 50's there will still be jets toards the middle of the era.  The Boieng 707-020 will enter service in 1954.

Jets are over-rated. Nothing beats an ATR! :D

The poll is pretty close right now.  I thought for sure at the begining of it that we would go to 1950 for sure.

In the year 1950 (literally that year, not counting any following year) the longest range aircraft is 5520nm.

in the year 1960 (literally that year, not counting any following year) the longest range aircraft is 5643nm.

in the year 1970 (literally that year, not counting any following year) the longest range aircraft is 8079nm (and that aircraft becomes available literally in 1970, closest in the early 60s is in the low 6000's and in 67 we get a plane that flies 7800~ nm).
