So you find truth in the most abstract subject known to man? Math is nothing but made up stuff, that we assign meaning to.

Well I do know that 2+3 is not 4, to say it that way. :P I'm not a good philosopher

Like describing a new colour? Is that what imaginary numbers are? I have no idea really :P

It's really difficult to explain... Imagine a number line from minus infinity to infinity:

All numbers are on that line. Now, extremely simplified, imaginary numbers are on a vertical axis. The basic imaginary number is i, which is the square root of -1 (which, in conventional maths, would not have a square root since no two numbers with the same value multiplied can give a negative number)

I hope it makes at least the slightest of sense :P

I see we have a mathmatician, though I do know about imaginary numbers I was actually being philosophic.

Numbers are merely a human intervention to explain things we otherwise cannot explain. On that basis, there is no certainty that anything we "know" is actually true. It is all build upon one invention.

No, 1992 consists of real numbers :P

Now, hold on to your thoughts, here's a video:

Again Matias, I am not talking about real, imaginary or any other kind of numbers specifically, I am talking about them all.
And no 1992 is true, it was a timeframe, and time is a physical thing.

The number 1992 is considered real in maths terms ;)

All numbers are real in math terms, even imaginary ;)
I am talking about philosophy :)

1993 (let's count here as well :D)

What is the purpose of imaginary numbers, other than confusing me? :)
