IRL, most big airline has lounges at important airports. This would be a good adition to AM.

To build a lounge in an airport, you will have to pay a one time fee. Then every month you will have to pay a lounge fee (for all the expenses, like  for the staff and for the food.) Maybe it would be cheaper to build the lounge if you build a terminal at the same time (like a package.) It could just be a button while creating a terminal: Do you want to create a terminal lounge for .... euros.

The benefits from having a lounge would be:

 - Higher price you can charge for all routes to/from that airport.

If you transport many people to an airport, the lounge would be crowded. Then people won't pay the premium to have lounge access. The LF would decline, and you would have to either lower the ticket price, or expand the lounge.

So lounges wouldn't have to be in a certain size. Maybe you would like a big lounge in your hub, and a smaller one at a destination.
To solve this you could deside how big the lounge would be. A slidebar would be perfect. The smaller you're lounge would be, the less expense, but the smaller passenger capacity it would have. If I slidebar would be to technically complicated, you could just some different lounge sizes (like: small, can handle 1000 passengers every day. Medium: Can handle 2000 passenger everyday and so on.)

I'm thinking about how alliance partners could use your lounge. I will post in this thread when I figure out how that could work.

Someday in the future, when multi-classes would be introduced, you could have buisness class exculusive lounges. But I think a lounge system could be doable without multi-classes.

What do you guys think about this proposal?

EDIT: Edited for typos.

It's an interesting idea. As it would be more cost effective to have larger lounges (i.e. less per person cost with larger lounges), I think the benefit would be that you are able to afford more lounges around the place. This would allow alliances to have larger networks of lounges, making their member airlines more popular to fly on (i.e. higher fares) - just as in real life.

Instead of one player paying for a lounge completely (which raises issues of feeding), maybe lounges could have a certain cost to establish them (probably proportional to the airport size - like a base construction fee) and then take an additional fee per passenger transported through (probably fixed - similar to general airport fees). In terms of alliances, the construction fee would be paid by a single airline, but the per passenger fee by the airline running the flight. It would make people think more about how they utilise airports - in terms of maximising usage of airports with lounges to maximise ROI on the lounge construction.

Yeah, that seems good.
Aslo, what does ROI mean?

This would increase the disparity between those based at mega airports and those at smaller airports.

Because the first class airlines are normally based at small Airports!

Well, this could be solved by having some kind of competition between lounges (airlines.) For example, if three airlines has a lounge at LHR, passenger wouldn't be paying much premium for a lounge when three airlines with lounges compete about the passengers.  But only one airline has a lounge in BRS, and that airline, can charge higher premium.  It sounds complicated I know, but it could probably be doable.

If building a lounge increases ROI, why wouldn't I build a lounge in every airport I fly to?

ROI issomething about the maximum profit, right?

Becuase it would cost quite a lot of money to build and maintan a lounge. It wouldn't be worth it to build lounges everywhere.

I just realized, who will pay the lounge maitenance? (like food expenses) The "owner airline", or would it be a split between the airlines using the lounge? (similar to the "per passenger system")

In reality, it is far cheaper to rent retail space at an airport than it is to rent a gate. But, even if you charge an equivalent amount per month (i.e., 350k/mo to maintain a lounge at a 350k airport), having even a minute increase in revenue due to the lounge will give fantastic ROI in the long run.

Maybe it could be a limitation to prevent the lounge features from being misused. Say, you have to transport atleast 1000 pax to/from that airport every day.

And also, what exactly is ROI?
