It really depends on how the incumbent airline is playing. In most private worlds, the great majority of players never play with optimal strategy.

If you can sneak in and use optimal strategy, then you can quickly overtake the incumbent and dominate.

My strategy in larger private/public worlds is to find large airports (~30 million pax +) that are un-inhabitted. Then, I saturate those airports. I've usually finished in the Top 10 of every world where I wanted to (ie: didn't start in Africa)
