How do You celebrate your countries National Holiday?

In the USA, our Independence Day is July 4th. we have fireworks, and parades, and all sorts of other fun stuff.

(In order to protect my thread from the wrath of Danzilla and his massive lockingness, discussions about politics of the two Chinas is prohibited.

We were never (really) fully dependent of another country. So we don't even have one. Barely anyone in the UK even know when our Saint's Day is (It is St. George, even though he never even came here, and I don't know the date either!

Here in Germany it is not really common to celebrate that day. Every year people come and say that this should not be a holiday - give some work -force to the factories.

Our government is stupid in things of pride. Go out onto the streets and say: "I am proud to be a German!" You can be glad not being visited by a police officer - others will call you a Nazi. If you are American and say: "I am proud to be American!" (or wherever you live and show your pride) I am sure people around you will say: "Me too!" We've started the last big war. So stick your head into the sand until the end of time.

Non of my family / people I knew took 1/7 seriously.

In fact, poeple has been demonstrating on that specific day!

National Day on October 10th. There are events celebrating it. Chinese migrants in Bay Area of San Francisco celebrate the National Day too. And, something for Americans:

Ooo Hong Kong's "independence", or rather, inauguration back to China is on July 1st (yes, it's Canada Day I know). This is how we celebrate:

I think July 4th in the US is/was the first sign that practically everything owned in America is going to be made in China.
