Eastern Pacific Newsletter: Volume 1
Message From the CEO: Eastern Pacific Takes to the Skies
Welcome to the first volume of the Eastern Pacific Newsletter. The following pages contain varied types of information, stuff that is useful for investors, enthusiasts, and passengers alike. This will be a bi-annual newsletter, with each successive newsletter summarizing all major events between the two dates. That being said, for my first message, I'd like to give you a bit of background about our airline.
Eastern Pacific Airlines has its roots in the (fictional) Great Accident of 1994, in which the world's entire ATC system collapsed. This resulted in the grounding of all major world fleets, and eventually the bankruptcy of all of the world's airlines. It has taken almost a year and a half, but the entire world ATC system has been rebuilt in its 1994 layout, and all airports have been re-built to their 1994 specifications as well. Unfortunately, during this time, the entire world fleet of aircraft was scrapped, and all of the aircraft manufacturers were shut down. The only plant to have re-opened at this time is Airbus' A319 plant in Tolouse.
When the ATC system first came online earlier this month, 9 carriers were allowed to re-form out of the remains of previous carriers, and China decided that one of the carriers needed to serve the People's Republic. I was asked by the Chinese government to head this new carrier, one of two granted to the Asian continent (Volcano Airways being the other). On 2nd December, Eastern Pacific Airways was formed with 800,000 euros of initial capital and 3 newly delivered Airbus A319 aircraft. We quickly went about renting gates and negotiating landing rights, and are proud to announce that upon the grand re-opening of the world's airspace we will simultaneously launch flights to 28 destinations, with our first flight being to Taiyuan Wusu International Airport.
Our initial focus will be on connecting the capital city of Beijing to small regional towns who don't have the benefit of high speed rail links with Beijing that the major cities do. Our next focus will be on connecting the provincial capitals and Special Economic Zones to Beijing, in addition to Korean and Japanese markets. This process will be repeated with major cities in China, after which point, we will then focus on connecting to all of Asia, then potentially the globe. We are also pleased to mention, that due to the restrictions placed on the number of world carriers, we have been granted rights to develop hubs in Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Australia.
Financial News
Eastern Pacific Airways is proud to announce that we are projecting both an operating profit, and a net profit for the first quarter of 1996. The airline is projected by analysts to earn a net profit of 98.76 million euros (excluding aircraft purchases) on revenues of 148.76 million euros. The airline is currently -1,678,598 euros in debt, but that total is projected to be wiped out by revenues from the first day of operations. The airline will be offering an initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange some time in 1997.
Fleet News
Eastern Pacific Airways' has taken delivery of our first 3 aircraft: all Airbus A319s with CFM International CFM56-5A4 Engines. These fuel efficient aircraft seat 145 passengers in a two class configuration. Of the 3 aircraft, two are painted in our standard livery, show below, with one being painted in the special livery commemorating our initial hub in Beijing.
"The Spirit of Beijing"
The future fleet plans have not been finalized yet, but we do know that we will have one plane in the 0-50 seat category, 1 in the 51-100 seats category, the Airbus A319, an aircraft with 151-200 seats (most likely the Airbus A320, which we have taken out options for). All aircraft choices with greater than 200 seats have not yet been considered.
All Eastern Pacific aircraft are fitted with two classes of service, Economy, and Oriental First. Economy Class passengers are allotted a spacious 34 inches of seat pitch while lounging in our fine cloth seats. Each row seats has a power outlet, and in every seat back lies a 7.5 inch Panasonic in flight entertainment system, which can be used to watch movies, play games, listen to music, shop, and watch live television. Wireless internet access is available for purchase on-board all aircraft. Every passenger receives complimentary soft drinks, coffee, tea, and water, and alcoholic drinks are available for purchase.
Oriental First passengers are treated like royalty from the beginning of their journey, with priority check in, their own separate security checkpoint, and complimentary newspapers. Once on-board, passengers are waited on hand and foot by our glowing cabin crew as they recline with our best in class 54 inch pitch on our fine leather seats. Wireless Internet is complimentary, as is the seat-back entertainment. Passengers are served 5 course gourmet meals, and all drinks are complimentary.
