Regional Expands Service from Des Moines, adding Aircraft and Gate
(AP) Urbandale, IA- Regional Airways (NYSE RGA) has announced it will take delivery of a smaller, more cost-effective aircraft for the short routes from its Des Moines hub. Company officials say this will free-up a larger aircraft for additional routes. "We're looking into Memphis and Denver right now, but aren't able to fly there due to the schedule and routes we currently fly" said one Executive. The company has already announced that flights to St. Louis, Milwaukee, Omaha, and Minneapolis may have increased flights daily, but will be served by the smaller aircraft. "The idea behind this is to give more options for the Iowans we serve by allowing us to add more destinations and allow more choices for flight times." said the other executive. Regional Airways is also adding a second gate at Des Moines International in preparation from the additional cities. The company is also looking at moving its offices from suburban Des Moines (Urbandale) to a large facility south of the airport near the suburb of Norwalk.
Regional Airways is committed to giving Iowa access to large, regional airports to connect to their final destinations. Regional Airways out serves its competition by giving passengers more options at a cheaper ticket price.
Regional Airways will operate 2 aircraft from 2 gates at Des Moines International Airport, and will serve seven destination-connection-cities; Omaha/Eppley Airfield (OMA), Minneapolis/St Paul International (MSP), Chicago/Midway (MDW), General Mitchell International/Milwaukee (MKE), Lambert St. Louis Airport (STL), Denver International (DEN), and Memphis International (MEM).
