Thankyou all for your comments and advice.

Here are my details.
AIRLINE NAME - JAY AIR
AIRLINE ID - 30312
WORLD  ID -  #640
YEAR         - 2004
BASES       - HKG CAN BKK
DOC          - 7.181.625

While you certainly have a decent network going, I would still concentrate on regional service first before going LH with A319s. From BKK/CAN, some 50-70 pax planes will do well to smaller airports; and you should be able to swing E190s and A319s to all but the smallest airports from HKG.

If you insist on going with A319LRs (IMO, you should only start investing in them once your DOC reaches about 13-14M), I would do one 0.5-freq long-haul and a few 1-freq flights.

Thanks for your advice psuedoswede.

But I have (gulp) ordered an A330-200 !

Figured it would be fun and hey, why not. This game is great fun and so thought I would try to see how lucrative I can make LH compared to my SH operation.

In 3 days I will let you know if there is a new A330 for sale

I will keep you posted.

Fly Hi.

Don't worry. The A332 will be profitable from any of your bases to any 300k/350k airport.

With a 7M DOC, that means you're waiting almost a full day to buy just one plane. It's better to buy smaller, cheaper planes to build up your DOC. In the future, I would probably wait until DOC reaches sufficient levels to buy an A332 plus a few other planes in one game month.

This is very true, it is something I have taken onboard and it is my daily log-in mission to increase my DOC.

Again, I play this game for fun, im sure that I may eventually become obsessed with becoming a major 'player' but in the mean time I'm just having a ball, trying different A/C types on diff routes, seeing how I can expand my SH network and now..... the joy of some LH.

I will keep you posted about my progress (should you be interested)

Fly Hi

Well that was an expensive lesson.

My spanking new A330-200, though maxed out on hours is my fleets worse performer!
Generating just 248K a day.

I have a little ATR 42-200 that manages 370K
and a Dornier 748-200 that rakes in 645K

Lesson learnt, I shall be sticking to SH  :)

i'm sorry to say this, but buying a '330 so early on as a newbie is just asking for a bankruptcy. You will have to replace it in less than a game year due to the maint prices and as you've noted it gets much less than other aircraft in your fleet.

my $2.

Hi all, I'm really newbie (and spanish, so please excuse my poor english). I've begun a new game with this details:

AIRLINE NAME - TELPERION AIRLINES
AIRLINE ID - 31951?
WORLD  ID -  #958
YEAR         - 1995
BASES       - KIX
DOC          - 64.256€

I'v requested a VardaxServ-Aero Hotter, and my account is with -582.000€. My idea is to expand in shor-medium range routes (900 - 1000 nm). Thanks for your advice :D

Try expanding into shorter routes first, like under 500 nm. You can fly more flights per day that way.
