Bases and Gates

This has probably been answered somewhere else but I wouldn't have any idea where to look, so.....

I have created a base with the 40 slot minimum but I am only currently using about half of that capacity.  What I want to know is, if I don't fill up the rest of it right away, will those unused slots (and consequently, my base) be taken from me by the auto-return script?  Or do I need to create some more short-hauls to fill up enough slots to where the idle gates won't be taken?

you have to have 4 gates in order to create a base, but once you pay the fee to create the base, you do not have to keep the 4 gates. so say right now you're filling up 20 of the 40 slots. i would suggest finding another flight so you're using 3 gates, and return 1 gate prior to the next month. because they will be auto returned, and if you havent been warned yet, you will be, along with being charged. if your gates are auto returned, or returned by you, you will NOT lose your base.
